Hi, I'm new here.
This year i try to test NTLite, and will buy it if it does what i expect.

I'm Trying to test to remove the (Green / Greyed Out ) OneDrive Component...

I made some researches about it, but i still don't understand...

1) Does only Blue? or also Greyed Out? components requires a license to be removed? ( that's not so clear )
On this topic the OneDrive component is not Grayed out: https://www.ntlite.com/community/in...o-remove-onedrive-win10-21h2.2890/#post-27061

2) Some people seam to speak about a "Compatibility Tab / Mode / Option" to activate:

https://www.ntlite.com/community/index.php?threads/remove-onedrive-from-components.3063/#post-28901

I also checked it, but i don't understand what the link, and how to un-grayed out the components with it?

3) So my final question is, can i remove the OneDrive component with the Free Licence or not?

Thank you by advance.
And i hope you could help me.

As far as I remember it was just blue. I noticed this too in recent versions. Generally grayed out means this is protected by some option checked in Compatibility. You will see written in the third column "Locked by Compatibility". But OneDrive is not protected by any of them.

I think this was a problem with the tool, download the latest version.

No, most components are premium features. But you can remove all Windows Apps and most System Apps with free version.

First, big thanks for your answer.

Ok, now i understand if in the third column called "Extra info" it's written "Locked by Compatibility: xxx" i have to uncheck the "xxx" in the "Compatibility" section. Great!

OneDrive removal has always been a licensed feature.

Thanks to your answer too.
Hum... So when it's write "Locked, blue title components require a license", it's mean: "Locked" = All "Greyed out components", right?

There is also the "locked components", "by compatibility".
That's why, i was a bit confused...

There's layers of meaning.

- The risk in removing a component is color-coded by its vertical bar (Green - no issues, Red - something will break).
- Components with Extra info will inform you which Compatibility mode prevents removal (must be unchecked from Compatibility dialog), or which other components depend on its existence.
- When the component title is greyed out, it's either (or both) locked by Compatibility or a licensed feature.

To summarize NTLite free features:
- Most of Unattended Setup, except for some wizards like Disk Partitioning
- Driver integration
- Registry integration
- Updates integration of manually downloaded files
- Most of Settings (except for premium features like automating TPM bypass)
- Post-Setup actions or tasks

NTLite paid features:
- Monthly updates download wizard
- Most the Components removals
- Enhanced image cleanup (DISM + custom modes)

There's a lot of compatibility checking and special handling to make sure removals don't break other features. This extra work is why the more interesting features are locked behind a license.

This is a bug in the version you are using, please update to the latest one. Components that require a license should be in blue. I think this is what is confusing you.

With an active license this message does not appear:

Version 2023.2.9145 without license:

Hi AeonX,
I didn't get it, but you was right since your first message!

That was a problem with my version or something else, i uninstalled it, downloaded and installed the new one, and now the components who need a license are write in blue and not in grey as before.

And yes you get it, that's what who confuse me so much...
So now, all is clear...

Big thanks again for your help and to found the problem.

Yes of course, i understand this, about the license...
That's my first use of NTLite and i have a lot to learn, according to my free time.

Big thanks to you for your answer, and AeonX again.

There is a lot of information to absorb at once, take your time. Better to know the simplest things first but know them well and manage to create a stable image than trying to go too far and break the OS.
