Settings - Bluetooth can't remove device

Hello,

I'm almost satisfied with my NTLited W10 21H2 now after a few days of use :cool:

I still have a little issue with Bluetooth.
Adding/connecting devices works fine, but I can't remove them.
When I go to Settings > Bluetooth & other devices, select one of the list and click "Remove device", settings page just closes without removing it.
Tried with fresh installs on 3 computers.
I made sure <Feature enabled="yes">Bluetooth</Feature> was in my preset.

I'm trying to find out what could interfere with that. Any advice?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Edit: I can remove devices with the "old" Control Panel. The problem occurs with the Modern Settings panel.

Hum, where do you find that? I didn't touch anything manually in Services section, except Windows Update.
I also attach my preset :)

So there is simply no excuse for w7 upwards being such resource hogs, none. 7 is bearable, 8.1, hmm, ok. w10 no way jose.

If i am asked, and i still got my old xp stuff i will try to dig it out. But xp will be bareboned services, no networking etc, just a standalone airgapped machine.

I understand that... Still using Windows 7 on my 5950X / RTX 3080 / 64GB DDR4, and it works perfectly. Tweaked a few years ago with vLite, only 24 processes. Latest libraries included, .NET 4.8, it is awesome.
But now, I start to struggle with latest hardware, no more Nvidia drivers updates...
It's time to move on, so I'm tweaking W10. Pretty painful compared to W7, especially the Services part. But I need to find perfect stability even before tweaking services. I think I made a proper install about 100 times, my test machines are worn out

I still haven't found why Bluetooth page closes itself upon device removal... Maybe another component or even a privacy setting, who knows... If someone has an idea...

Well, after a few hours testing each setting, I found the problem.
If you remove "Run as Administrator" context menu on .exe files, you cannot remove Bluetooth devices with modern settings panel. The popup "Are you sure you want to remove this device?" doesn't show up and settings panel just closes itself.

Here is the reg entry:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\runas]

And here is how to restore it:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\runas]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\runas]
"HasLUAShield"=""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\runas\command]
@="\"%1\" %*"
"IsolatedCommand"="\"%1\" %*"

Weird...

System Settings is intended to be a monolithic (single app) replacement for Control Panel. But some panels are still legacy apps called from Settings. That's why they work on their own, but not when launched from Settings.
