"Setup has failed to initialize the working directory"

@nuhi Thanks for the info. I worked with MS support yesterday and he told me to use the PID.txt with the generic key without the EI.cfg file in the sources directory. That seems to be moving things along in the limited testing I've done on it. I will be testing this further and post back if...

"Setup has failed to initialize the working directory"

Yes, I have tried removing editions both ways, but both ways still leave me with the problem described in my original post.

"Setup has failed to initialize the working directory"

Tried mucking with the EI.cfg and PID.txt files in the \sources folder to specify [EditionID] to be Enterprise and put our MAK key in the PID file. It seems that setup will look to the embedded OEM key and choose to install Pro. On machines that don't have an embedded key, it is failing to...

"Setup has failed to initialize the working directory"

I just tested loading the NTLite created ISO as a DVD in VMWare and it installs a bare metal machine fine. The vast majority of what I need this for is to push the setup behind the scenes with my management tool on a running operating system. The issue appears to be from all the extra...

"Setup has failed to initialize the working directory"

I ran this from Windows. The majority of what this will be used for is for upgrading, both Win7 and Win10 1703/1607 clients. I haven't run this as a bare metal install yet, but I will do that.

"Setup has failed to initialize the working directory"

I am working from the latest Win10 x64 Enterprise VLC ISO from MS (SW_DVD9_Win_Pro_10_1709.1_64BIT_English_Pro_Ent_EDU_N_MLF_X21-67518). I don't have access to the VLC myself and requested the pure Enterprise ISO, but this was all that was found and provided to me. The 1703 ISO I have is pure...

Lync.exe error after removing Skype apps

@nuhi, I just rolled up a fresh 1709 installer with no updates baked into it and it is not giving me the issue. But, I ran an older 1709 installer that I rolled up and it gave me the error. Unfortunately, I've lost the preset information to back track to what was done to the failing one. To...

Lync.exe error after removing Skype apps

I think I figured out what my issue was. It seems to be from including KB4022405. Before making modifications to my install source, I will roll up an unmodified vm and run Windows updates on it to see what it currently pulls. I make a note of what is found by WU and add those to the modified...

Lync.exe error after removing Skype apps

I tried leaving the Skype apps, but it seems that it is the Store apps that are the culprit. When I have the chance, I'll remove Skype while leaving the Store to see how that goes. Do you have any pointers to information on how disabling windows update blocks Store app installation?

Lync.exe error after removing Skype apps

Hi Kasual, I would be happy if it were that simple, but our group has determined that this needs to be removed as having two Skype options confuses people when we want them to use Skype for Business. At this point, I have not removed it. But eventually, I would like to be able to safely...

Lync.exe error after removing Skype apps

When trying to start up Skype for Business (Office 2016), I get a system error "Lync.exe - System Error: The code execution cannot proceed because elscore.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem." This file is present in C:\Windows\System32 and the WinSxS folder also...
