does anyone know which components are responsible for the new Explorer interface in Windows 11, as well as for the top toolbar in Explorer

I made my own version of W11 using ntlite and everything is perfect in it, but the explorer has an outdated interface like in W10, as well as there is no top panel in it, maybe someone knows which checkboxes need to be left on in ntlite to avoid this

Thanks in advance for the help

Please attach your preset after removing any user passwords (or license keys). If I had to guess, you removed Client.CBS which manages most of the Desktop UI.

The exact same thing happens to me, but I didn't delete anything in the image, I just changed some settings from the options within ntlite, I don't know why the explorer changes as if it were windows10

YDid you find any solution?

Maybe Start Menu (linked to the explorer, from memory) Client.CBS or other component
Better to see the preset

nuhi wanted to add an option for the old explorer (W10)
Already having this "explorer", I don't know anymore if it has integrated or not

To see if it has done it and if you have not activated it

This requires moving Client.CBS components, which reverts you back to a W10 Desktop. You can't do this with reg settings.

You can have the W10 explorer with a simple registry key, a third-party software, etc...
Nuhi wanted to integrate this reg option, I told him that he could but that I already had this "explorer"

Do you want to be more specific? Which reg keys are you using?

Me none, I delete the Start Menu, Client.CBS, etc... which automatically puts the explorer of W10 (maybe just with only the Start Menu by the way)
I use a third party software for the start menu

Otherwise nuhi had shown me this registry key

I tested it on an untouched W11 and it works very well

That's the same reg from: Restore Classic File Explorer with Ribbon in Windows 11

The problem with W11's Explorer Ribbon is the answer keeps changing, depending on which W11 version you have.
  • Option One: Temporarily Open File Explorer with Ribbon
  • Option Two: Create Shortcut to Always Open File Explorer with Ribbon
  • Option Three: Restore Classic File Explorer with Ribbon for Current User using REG file (Works in 23H2+)
  • Option Four: Restore Classic File Explorer with Ribbon for All Users using REG file (No longer works in 22H2+)
  • Option Five: Enable or Disable File Explorer Command Bar for Current User using REG file (No longer works in 22H2+)
  • Option Six: Enable or Disable File Explorer Command Bar for Current User using Command (No longer works in 22H2+)

There isn't an one-size-fits-all answer. btw that's my PS command featured in Option Two.

Because we have users on older Windows releases, it's very important to make clear that Explorer doesn't behave the same everywhere.

Oh no, I had tested on 23h2 (at the date nuhi told me about it I was not yet on 24h2)
And he had the info of a test on 24h2 (hence the confusion)

YThis behavior happened to me only in the latest 24h2 build, iot enterprise by the way, in the build before that the same settings, and the Explorer was still running smoothly, so I imagine it has something to do with the new build.

Do you have a preset ? so we can see the changes
Having removed the personal information
There are about 5 presets to apply one in each session, I did not find a way to apply all the presets in a single session I will share the settings with you in a bit.

You can compare presets and add/remove extra "lines" in a single preset
Or load the preset, make all changes, and export a new preset (Save => Save as...)

Me none, I delete the Start Menu, Client.CBS, etc... which automatically puts the explorer of W10 (maybe just with only the Start Menu by the way)
I use a third party software for the start menu
Could you tell me please which software you use to replace the Start menu, Client.CBS, etc?

The presets are listed in the order I applied them, I did not remove any components
