Delete System Volume Information?

Hello

Is it possible to delete the creation of the "System Volume Information" directory at the root of the disk/partitions/disks and USB drive ?

Thanks

I dont think so because its needed by the file system, delete it and you may end up in crap creek. Its used by System Restore so if you dont use that it will reduce the size. Its possible to have a look inside but i forget how i did it. Use something like JK Defrag/My Defrag UI's to see how big it is.

I dont know though, it seems possible looking at search results.

I used delete the creation of the "System Volume Information as my search. Some say yes some say no. Try a test install and copy some data over, delete the folder if you can and see what happens.

Heres mine on a new install and my storage drives not connected yet, its just 8.1 updated and a few bits to get online.

I already added the key "DisableRemovableDriveIndexing" for USB Drive but the directory is still created

Works here(did it with gpedit.msc), formatted my Denon-Audio key, copied files across and its gone. Damn thing shows up in the players menu when its there.

It works with some keys, but those recognized as hard disk (32GB and more), the directory is recreated

Must find for hard drives now :)

Mines a 32gb sandisk cruzer blade. I stopped the storage service, applied tweak, restarted then formatted. Wonder if disabling search and indexing helps, both are useless anyway.

I did not look for storage service but I believe I deleted it, to check :)
My USB drive is a Sandisk Extreme USB3 recognized as hard drive (in explorer)
