Did I remove too many components? Realtek Audio software doesn't work

Hello

Audio works fine and all, but none of the boundled software to control the audio features are working. They're like if they're not installed. There's no realtek HD panel or anything. There's also one unknown realtek device that doesn't have a driver reported in device manager, so it's not working and I don't know what it is.

I have the latest audio driver from May 2021 on an ASUS Strix X570-E Gaming motherboard, the only diver I've ever installed.

Digging deeper I found out most of the GUI control software is UWP, and then I kinda put one and one together, may very well be a side-effect of my ISO customization, but most of the side-effects were kinda expected and I have no problem dealing around them so far, mostly pertains to the new GUI stuff which I don't use much anything because it's all configured the way it needs to be for my needs.

So it looks like I removed "Modern App Support - 32 bit" .... and it may be the reason behind why my official ASUS Realtek drivers don't fully work.

And that's the full list from the NTLITE's preset that was used for this installation:

But there may be something else also behind this, I'm not sure, but most importantly the question is, is it possible to bring and reinstate the UWP 32 bit support back ?!?!?!

I tried loading the current installation with NTLITE to just have a look, i'll do the reading and search about this later when I have more time.

Hi,

not having an answer which component it is, if you're willing to try yourself, and for the future to return components, use the Host Refresh feature if using Windows 10+.
Let me know how it goes, if you don't succeed with Modern App support, let me know and I'll see about it.
Btw make sure not to disable any services while testing, cannot see if you did. Reset them after loading the preset when making a refresh.

I didn't mess with services much, none infact in the NTLite customization, but I did manually later disable a few ones after installation. I'm sure I always did even from Win 7 times.

Most of them I did not had to disable because the full components of them were gotten ridden of anyway.

I usually disable DNS Client(cache), BITS, backup, updates, homegroup, IPv6 transition technologies, and the connected/cloud stuff because I don't use any of that stuff. So I also disabled Connected Devices Platform User Service_.

Unfortunately, from the looks of it while Host Refresh seems like an awesome feature and I'm sure I'll figure it out and do it, I'll just have to do a clonezilla backup image of my ... oops almost 1TB filled SSD (shouldn't have done it before putting games on) because it seems like Host Refresh really is literally "refresh" reapplication of all the things, which in this case is not optimal, I do not want to reapply the original pre-installation preset settings, I only really want to make one single change to add "Modern App Support - 32 bit" without it going through and re-removing and re-setting anything else.

I'm reluctant to continue at this time without having this installation backed up, but it may take some time for me to find necessary space of over ~500GB for the main SSD image (or I'll have to painsakingly move game data in an out)

Perhaps some kind of another mode of Host Refresh could be made that fulfills this usecase?

On the other hand, who knows if it requires just the UWP 32bit, it may need Store stuff as well, but I did see the Realtek Audio Drivers include bot x86 and x64 libs there, so it must be failing on the x86 ones for sure then.

Ugh, I got hit by a terrible bug, when I wanted to quit, I didn't quit the program but I pressed UNLOAD on the TempHostRefresh, and it started the Windows Setup .... loading, I immediately clicked cancel on the Windows Setup dialog but it keep crunching until I think NTLite finished unloadin, it was doing it in the background as I watched the progressbar receed back, after a while it errored with this, hopefully no damage to any components ....

NTLite_Bug_Error_HostRefresh_UnloadHotStartBugged_15July2021.png

I'm stopping everything right this moment, this installation is for workstation (and some games on the side) and i'm going to be seriously frustrated if I have to restart weeks of work again to painstakingly install and configure all the dev programs and work utilities. I don't really need the realtek audio control panel that much at all (but sometimes I would want to configure a few things)

A couple of more erorrs displayed later after closing this, I didn't capture that one, but it was generic about "user cancelled".

Returning components is virtually impossible without host refresh or a reinstall.

Cancelling something is not a bug, you just interrupted the process, not a big deal.

You could test it in a virtual machine to get the hang of it and find the reason, then refresh it.

Oh allright I guess, although I'm still looking for anything it did, I can see a $WINDOWS.~BT folder being created in the system C: drive, I'll check CBS logs and if I don't see anything then I guess it's all fine.

Indeed, I'll test in VM, good idea.
