Help needed

I have my Windows 10 x64 LTSB image almost perfect. I have a couple of things I just can't seem to find. I have searched the forums, but couldn't really find the answers I needed.

1. I need to have the VSS service installed and working so that I can take VMWare snapshots while the VM is running. VSS is currently not installed, so I must have removed it from somewhere.

2. I would like for the Windows firewall to be disabled.

3. I would like to set all users new and existing to use a specific wallpaper.

1. Please attach the preset used. Btw my VMWare does snapshots in the background without VSS, let me know how you test for that limitation.

2. After setup, it is possible. Add the attached REG file to the Post-setup page. If you see any issues after setup, like completely messed up Metro, it could be this one. Especially if integrated in the Registry page (this is before setup).
I should expose the Firewall profile switch at least.

3. That is not available from the UI, but certainly doable.
Use again a REG file for settings to the current user that you want. HKCU is used for editing the Default User via the Registry integration page (not Post-setup page as in #2).
For copying files to the image, see here.

I am using VMware converter and converting from a "physical machine" to a virtual machine while it is running so it uses the VSS to do to take that initial snapshot.

1. see here

go to Services on the left, then check that the Volume Shadow Copy service and RPC service are enabled.

2. go to components and search "firewall" at the top. There's an option specifically called
"Windows Firewall - Removes Firewall UI and disables the functionality"

nuhi feel free to correct me if I'm wrong :)

I just checked and the Volume Shadow copy services is not listed under services. So I must have removed the components, but I can't figure out how to add them back in.

go to the components tab, and at the top search for "Volume Shadow"

make sure everything is checked. At the very least you need the "Volume Shadow Copy (API)" under System

I am pretty happy with mine, only thing it doesn't do is the VSS thing. Everything else works. But would love your critique on mine.

Its not for me to criticise another persons needs. You have got a license and can go mucch further than you have.
My presets are built for beginners and shouldnt break much, if anything at all. Load it, stop before saving the image to see how much you have removed.

I looked in Windows\system32 and the only vss files I have are vsstrace.dll.mui, vssapi.dll, vsstrace.dll.

On my personal Windows 10 machine I have 13 files. The big ones that I think I need that are missing are vssadmin.exe and vssvc.exe.

Any idea what portion of the NTLite would have removed those?

Just did a fresh load of the untouched LTSB and it had all of the VSS components in there. So I must have stripped it out somewhere in NTLite.

I dont thinks its one of your removals, I have had a look at Volume Shadow Copy and all its sub components are there. Slim chance its one of your settings but i reckon isa bug, best bet is Nuhi having a look.

Thanks for all of the help. I think found it. I removed one of the component for volume shadow copy. I was trying to add it back in, but you can't really do that. I started over with a new image and then applied the xml but this time didn't take off volume shadow and a couple of other things.
