Mod note: Moving this discussion to its own thread.

can you delete all language packs on the windows 11 23h2 iso, and then add in the only one you want? making that the default? what about the bootable media part? the boot.wim can we do the same with that, delete everything but add the one we want? so far I've had failure after failure trying to get this to work.

basically the tiny 11 iso only has the US langrage pack, how can i remove all US langrage packs from both the install.esd and the boot.wim? so that i can have my own langrage as the default and only langrage? is the US langrage pack mandatory ?

it would seem @ntdev doesn't like the British, or it was the typical shoot 1st ask questions later... bye bye en_GB langrage pack bang

Every local edition of Windows has a default language. While you can install extra Language Packs, the original language is mandatory for Windows installation. If you need a different base language, switch to another local edition.

WinPE has a separate set of LP's in the form of Optional Component (OC) packages. OC's are not interchangeable with install.wim LP's.

The problem with TinyOS and other custom ISO's is it's difficult or impossible to integrate different LP's. By design, all LP's need to be installed first before any updates or removals are applied. When you install a LP over an updated image, WU will ask you to re-install the last monthly update. Re-installing the update will likely restore some features, undoing many changes.

The solution is to start from scratch with a clean ISO, add your LP's before removing any components. This is why we don't recommend modding someone else's pre-built ISO.

Many ISO projects are too busy lazy to provide you with other editions beside English (US).

Language Packs must always be integrated first, before applying updates or removals. The best way is to do two runs:
1. Load clean image, add LPs. Make new image.
2. Load image, continue with other changes.
it would seem I was doing the shooting 1st too! you have to add the language pack of choice 1st, before deleting all the language packs you don't want, which take alot more time... because you have to open up ntlite add you're language pack apply, "make the image" then reopen it again to delete the langrage packs you don't want! i wasted alot of time before noticing this comment. hopefully someone will see this before pulling their hair out :)

after adding Microsoft-Windows-Client-LanguagePack-Package_en-gb-amd64-en-gb to boot.wim and install.esd this is what we have! top one is en_GB under it is en_US however the strange thing is when i go to look at whats been added to boot.wim i only see en_US but clearly en_GB has been added! crazy!

if i remove the en_us langrage we have no boot, mmm, maybe there are no boot files, maybe i can simply add them from another iso? after deleting the en_us language pack from boot.wim?

under boot/ i see en-us but no en-gb something odd seems to be going on here

Wouldn't this be easier by replacing the (en-US) boot.wim, with the boot.wim extracted from (en-GB) ISO? Honestly, I don't know how many "misspelled" words are there in WinPE to care about.

i'm going to give up on this, the above will have to be enough, it would seem something got deleted, or gets deleted that shouldn't have! i've tried adding files from an iso that has one windows 11 install to choose from, windows 11 pro, same as tiny11, which was in my language as the donor, i moved the boot files from that to tiny11, which you would think, would fix it, but no! it would seem i'd need to use something like easyuefi tool to fix this, seeming as the tiny11 boot.wim files has all the bypass rubbish inside of it, im going to stick with it and just put up with two languages, seeming as mine is the 1st langrage its not that big a deal, i doubt deleting en_us frees up that much space, seeming as its the boot.wim, i could even put in a auto skip on the language menu, the main amount of size will come from the install.esd, i have been able to remove all en_us language update / packages from install.esd so most of my job has been done, someone else more smart than me will have to take up working out why these custom windows installs refuse to boot without en_us in boot.wim... typical, computer says noooooo ;) or is this langu rage

it would seem after all this time invested, it no longer works to add and remove language packs... the vm wasn't allow internet

I used 2023.12.9525 (64-bit) beta of NTLite, added the en-GB language files Microsoft-Windows-LanguageFeatures-Basic-en-gb-Package~arm64~~.cab Microsoft-Windows-LanguageFeatures-Handwriting-en-gb-Package~arm64~~.cab Microsoft-Windows-LanguageFeatures-OCR-en-gb-Package~arm64~~.cab Microsoft-Windows-LanguageFeatures-Speech-en-gb-Package~arm64~~.cabMicrosoft-Windows-LanguageFeatures-TextToSpeech-en-gb-Package~arm64~~.cab all of them, so the files that come as .cab, and used the converted tool found here on Microsoft-Windows-Client-LanguagePack-Package_en-gb~arm64~en-gb~.esd using "esd2cab_CLI.cmd" which gave me a .cab file, i added them all to the following iso found here using the update section of NTLite and then remounted the image and removed Microsoft-Windows-LanguageFeatures-Basic-en-us-Package~arm64~~.cab Microsoft-Windows-LanguageFeatures-Handwriting-en-us-Package~arm64~~.cab Microsoft-Windows-LanguageFeatures-OCR-en-us-Package~arm64~~.cab Microsoft-Windows-LanguageFeatures-Speech-en-us-Package~arm64~~.cabMicrosoft-Windows-LanguageFeatures-TextToSpeech-en-us-Package~arm64~~.cab and Microsoft-Windows-Client-LanguagePack-Package_en-us~arm64~en-gb~.cab from the iso image, i mounted the boot.wim to add Microsoft-Windows-Client-LanguagePack-Package_en-us~arm64~en-gb~.cab and ended the session there, i get the above blue screen...

round 2 im going to just remove

Microsoft-Windows-LanguageFeatures-Basic-en-us-Package~arm64~~.cab Microsoft-Windows-LanguageFeatures-Handwriting-en-us-Package~arm64~~.cab Microsoft-Windows-LanguageFeatures-OCR-en-us-Package~arm64~~.cab Microsoft-Windows-LanguageFeatures-Speech-en-us-Package~arm64~~.cabMicrosoft-Windows-LanguageFeatures-TextToSpeech-en-us-Package~arm64~~.cab im going to leave Microsoft-Windows-Client-LanguagePack-Package_en-us~arm64~en-gb~.cab on both boot.wim and install.esd, im using the force right now and i feel it will work with these changes, because en_US is mandatory it would seem, hopefully i can still get rid of the en_US extras...

please stop and do as i say

yay!

if anyone works out how to removed en_US fully using only the tiny11 iso image, feel free to update this post with how you did that, 6hours in the making this! by the way you don't need to edit boot.wim, i think en_gb gets added there auto magically when updating install.esd

Why all the trouble? is en-us too bad compared to en-gb?
Yes, en-gb is my language I don't say mom I say mum, and Clanger, so you want all the stuff in the Microsoft store to display dollar instead of pound. No offence but we all know where English was 1st invented, it wasn't with the us.

NEVER use something like that, it causes more issues than solutions. That form of iso is NOT the proper way of dealing with language packs etc , as you do not know ENTIRELY what has been removed, what has been blocked or anything. ALWAYS use a CLEAN iso ( microsoft ) , NOT a pre tampered one (tiny11) . Do people never learn ?. It is easier to work forwards and solve problems, than to work backwards from a butchers job to fix things.

Tiny11? WE DO NOT DISCUSS OR SUPPORT FRANKENBREWS FROM THE INTERNET, PERIOD.
MS proves en-gb and en-uk, English International iso's and what we do do is to help you create your own tiny11 alike a from genuine LEGAL ms source iso so if OP starts again using we will do our best to help.
