Newly Edited Image from Read-Only Reference lowercases all files and folder names

Why does NTLite v2024.12.10221 lowercase all file and folder names in new edits?
For instance, I uppercased my preconfigured $OEM$ folder name in the Read-only reference image. The new edit image I then created has all lowercased file and folder names.
I know that it doesn't matter functionally, since Windows is case-insensitive, but why is the reference case not preserved in new edit images from its reference image?
