1 thing that did play on my mind Kas was that users were struggling with the old Advanced preset, namely with IE Search and WMP and its stuff and they had a lot of work adapting the preset so in future i will keep those components intact and and i will have look elsewhere. I must try to keep the install half of what a standard usually is.

Metro UI is flat and bloody awful and not a lot different to Classic theme. Dark Themes are like a picnic in a coal mine. Gamer themes are bloody awful. Windows 7 Basic theme looks like Fisher Price and vomit, Aero tends to wig out and revert to the ugly Fisher Price and vomit look so i have tweaked the Windows 7 Classic theme to variations of the light grey and blues used in NTLites UI. See attached - moved topost no1
Its not too light, no bright whites, not too dark, i find its usable. It was customised using Windows built in tools so you wont have to patch the OS theme files and you can easily tweak it. Run it with Desktop Window Manager and Themes services disabled if you wish.
Download from post no1. Remove the .txt file extension and place it inside C:\Windows\Resources\Ease of Access Themes It will be picked up and seen in Control Panel - Personalisation.

W7-Lite-V5 in the planning stage. Thanks to a suggestion by Kasual V5 is going to be modular with multiple presets instead of one, you can add all or just the removals you want. NTLite can import/load multiple presets at a time. This is going to take sometime to compile.

Get the presets read me file from post no1, theres w10 info in it.
Due to various factors there will be no more barebone presets, just Lite presets only. These suit my needs and they are also ideal for beginners or seasoned liters who just want a decent starting point which they can then build upon.
I can build a Lite preset for any os i use in the future in very little time then spend a few weeks testing out tweaks. A Lite preset with some careful tweaks can result in a well behaved os that wont have (hardly any, if at all) dependecy/missing component issues.

You mean 1607, possibly, but it might need modifying. It would be like appyling a preset built for windows xp(no service pack) onto windows xp sp3.
I havnt used any build other than 1607 but i can give you a few tips.
Fonts - Below is my own w7 fonts list i use for en-us and en-gb. These are the fonts i keep(for any os), i remove everything else. I dont use MS Office but if you do or may doin the future then you need to keep any font marked as Needed for Office Compatibility. Keep any Default Fonts. You will also need to keep any font you need for your language requirements.
Keyboards and Languages. You can remove everything except the language and keyboard layout you need. You will need to keep Input Method Editor, IME, for certain easter languages. Read the components notes carefully.
Drivers and Hardware Support. Remove every 3rd party driver. Some 3rd party drivers may be needed for Compatibility Options, Virtual Machines usually so keep those.
The rest of the removals in there should be ok but go through them carefully. Good luck.

List of w7 Pro SP1 x64 w/KB3125574(no removals) disabled services with .net472 installed and using Classic(modified) theme. 4gb system ram, 1gb graphics card, no pagefile, 12% ram used on idle. Remaining services will need further testing but to be honest w7 x64 copes well with 4gb no pagefile and all services on standard settings. I am getting an issue with AMD OverDrive service stopping with this configuration.
Ram usage is 800 to 900mb at idle with all services on standard settings. About 530mb at idle using this extreme services list.

OK guys, some users still want my older presets. I cant have too much traffic using my one drive. I have very limited time for tech work now. I cant remember what is in those older presets and i cant support loads of older presets.
If a user requests a specific preset or want a type of configuration, if you have them then please upload them as requested. As you will be running those presets with or without modification you know what works on them and what doesnt so please help answer their questions.
