Registry thoughts + Anti-Malware Scan Interface + Network Data Usage Monitoring Driver

Thanks again for the wonderful tool. The few issues that surface from time to time are nothing comparing to what we gain from it. One tiny one is now NTLite won't complain if registry keys were not added because of permission issues. They are silently skipped instead. Not sure also why such very much in line with NTLite regs are not yet in the "Settings->Explorer". Would you consider something like a "default" and "minimalistic" preset for these maybe?

Now the theories:
1. "Anti-Malware Scan Interface" also kills .exes, etc. on physical PCs. At the moment notes mention Virtual PC only.
2. "Network Data Usage Monitoring Driver" results in BSOD in tcpip.sys if, for example, i try to run skype for the first time, during initial speaker, mic and camera setup. Nuhi, may i ask you please to confirm or debunk 1. and 2.?
I have a 3rd candidate, but at the moment i think it might be as well that MS screwed it up. Since i am out of activations anyway, i will try to install a fresh unmodified OS and then confirm. Preset attached, if you suspect 1. or 2. might be a multi-component problem.

P.S. How i used up 5 activations.
1st - Installed on the NTLited host - only to realize that host OS has been modified too much for NTLite to work.
2nd - Installed on VirtualBox - most of the testing was done here.
3rd-5th. After finding several issues in the VM, i also found one which manifested on physical PC only. Being lazy, i activated and then removed components in batches, then smaller sub-batches, then single components...

Can i integrate through setupcomplete.cmd when the keys require a change in permissions? The list of regs is just a feature request. I have read the links you posted, but couldn't find my case. How can i retain my license if i reinstall with a complete wipe of the drive?

Once i got my head around the fact that liting 7 wasnt much different to xp(my xp and 7/8.1/10 presets are very similar) then i did one section at a time, drivers, then keyboaards languages etc, then worked my way down the page by building up in stages. Networking and System components are the danger areas and they are best done in small batches of 4 or 5 at a time because when summat breaks you only have to back paddle a bit. If beginners throw in everything including the kitchen sink then they will end in in crap creek back paddling like crazy, they end up starting all over again.

You have done what i did and i always recommend that way of working.

Clanger,
I have a different philosophy, also from nLite times: remove as much as possible without breaking (important) things.

Kasual,
Thanks, i have. In the past, i have contacted but after 2 times, the developer behind all this was already reluctant to issue more re-activations over a short period i was very active with that tool, without "some kind of an explanation", which i provided here, years later. So i decided not to ask him any more and just wait one year and get a renewal instead. This attitude saves a lot of time, too :)

I needed to contact only once for reactivations times reset in over a year but because i spend 3 in the same machine, 2 on other (for live testing) and 1 for virtual machines.

If you have read the links, one of the threads will help you to know how to backup your license for up to 5 machines, it's simple:
Activate your license (you already did), make a backup/copy (license.dat and settings.xml files) to a safe place/storage device. After many format times you'll be able to restore your license without spending activations. Whenever you need to activate your license on another machine, restore your license files there, activate and backup the license.dat file, replacing the old one and so on up to the 5 devices are activated and registered inthe license.dat file. This way you will have stored all your activations in a file license.dat file (you can make sure reading the first).

Some are integrated only through setupcomplete.cmd but i think others woul be possible if you run NTLite with powerrun or ExecTI - Run as TrustedInstaller.

I keep stuff needed for compatibility with software i have used at least once, never knows if you would need it sometime later.

Thanks for the feedback.

0. Will check on registry integration and push up that permission auto-own task that has been delayed for some time now.

1. Yes, heard about it few times now, rare but enough to change the description.

2. Hm, haven't heard about that one before, also I remove it all the time. Was it maybe after installing some cumulative update before that test?
If so, was it an older NTLite version? Latest ones are better in that regard, working with cumulative updates after removals.

2.1. Activations have been reset, will also send more info on email.
You can keep the same VM for testing, just make sure not to modify it's hardware, backup license file if NTLite dir is not kept between reinstalls.
I use network share to access NTLite from VMs, that way don't have to worry about it - also NTLite can run without being reinstalled so just run it from any location.
