ResetBase on Windows 7

".NET Framework 3.0 is supported on Windows XP, Server 2003, Vista, Server 2008, and Server 2008 R2.[5] Applications utilizing .NET Framework 3.0 will also run on computers with .NET Framework 3.5 installed, which supports additional operating systems. "

that preset was built on and for a capture image that has ie11 and net4.8 installed and where no other updates or .nets will be installed. given the components i removed its possible that they are causing your problem.

normally you would use the setting below to force something to use the latest .net version.
Code:
NTLite - load OS - Settings - Application compatibility - Use only latest CLR(.Net version) Enable
unfortunately some installers demand a certain version and will not install unless .net version X is installed.

i can try that setting and see if the program takes... IF it doesnt take, is there a setting (after selecting your preset) that will give the SW the ability to install all the .NET dependencies it needs or is it a bit more complicated then that?

happy days :). that preset should be used last because nuhi's notes on some of those componenets state that after removal no further servicing is possible. that program of yours has a very stubborn installer  but its not the only one.

you can modify that preset so it only cleans winsxs while keeping all the update/servicing intact. it was built for my needs and way of working but also to demonstrate how much can be removed.

if you are going to rip out winsxs and windows update you might want to remove both Servicing Stack components, check their notes 1st though.

W7 Pro X64, 3125574(not to EOL), IE11, .Net 4.8 = 4.81GB installed size. all ive done is remove 3rd party drivers, uneeded keyboards languages and fonts, clean caches and .net files, strip out winsxs. everything else is fully intact and (should be)fully functional. will look and see if it can be massaged a bit more with/without any component removals.
