The following options are checked;
  1. System Reset for Windows
  2. Windows update (+Feature Setup)
Under settings DISM resetbase functionality disabled;

When I decide to clean the winsxs folder to remove obsolete entries:

First I run the following command {Cmd mode; Admin} cleanmgr sageset:50
I check all the options then run the following command cleanmgr /sagerun:50

Is system reset for windows take precedence even if the resetbase functionality has been disabled?

I see returned deleted entries returned to the winsxs folder.

This occurs after every host refresh. Even when removing reinstalls via ntlite method I get the same results.

I usually don't bother reporting such info. I always check for updates, how else does one get updated defender files.

The other approach I take is issue the following command dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup

Which method should one take to clean the winsxs folder.

Perhaps I should ask the question this way:

The following options are checked;
  1. System Reset for Windows
  2. Windows update (+Feature Setup)
Under settings DISM resetbase functionality disabled;

Are these two settings related.
