Hi Everyone,

I've been trying to create installation media for a TMP254-51 (Acer TravelMate|P). I been using a set of tools from this post to extract the drivers and add them to the installation media. When starting the computer from the created boot disk, the mouse isn't detected and no storage space is picked up.

How would I go about troubleshooting this problem?

Many thanks

Avoid installing drivers and see if Windows can handle your mouse problem - simple as that.

I've spoken with Acer. They've informed me that what I am doing with NTLite will never work with this laptop model.
it has been designed so that all the drivers must be installed/loaded separately.

If I find a way which isn't so involved I'll share it here (incase any other sorry souls pick up a TMP215-54)

Just an observation. Don't remove anything from Components/ Drivers and Hardware Support section in NTL.
If removing a Component NTL disable the corresponding driver/ hardwaresupport as it's linked together.

Whatever the Acer rep said is false, so long as this is actually a device built for Windows and not some niche situation. Every manufacturer needs to follow a huge number of protocols and standards, ranging from things like USB certifications to WHQL driver qualifications, and so much more. Google searching also reveals nothing of the sorts about this topic on Travelmate laptops, so you've been fed some bogus information it seems.

This duplicate thread here is already solved though, with the information I posted in the original thread you asked about laptops on. I said the same things as Francis11 did here too, so now you have two veterans telling you it's a driver issue or something you did to break things, and we're telling you how to fix it. If you go through each section and do all the things I mentioned in the other thread, this Acer will be fixed like your HP laptop.

As always it's HP - most troubled PC can buy as a private user.
And stay away for their printers too.
