Updated Windows 8.1 -> Telemetry removal component not removing telemetry executables.

Hi.

Recently processed a Windows 8.1 (Fully updated) build in NTLite, however after the component removal process, with removing telemetry, there is still telemetry going on in the background after an installation.

Both Compattelrunner.exe and diagtrackrunner.exe occasionally seem to start at random, obviously my outbound firewall notifier immediately blocks it until I say otherwise, but still worrysome.

Removal broken? Or oversight?

Edit: Also a 'diag' tracker object exists in the 'Performance Monitor' startup events.

thx for reporting, seems like they added that with the rollups.

Fixed for the next update, will send you a prerelease, public maybe on Tuesday.

You can use the new version and force reshowing of the same component, then remove it Live.
Add <ForceShowComponents>true</ForceShowComponents> to the .\settings.xml before starting the tool.
Don't forget to remove it later when done to not confuse you in the future.
