Volume Control slider disappears after removing re-installations with NTLite

Hello,

I'm running a Windows 11 22H2 NTLited as per enclosed automatically saved session xml-file. The original installation took place in November 2022 and the automatic monthly updates were installed every month and after that I always removed with NTLite the re-installed components.

I'm running it on a desktop PC with a cordless Logitech keyboard having some additional keys, one of them for in- and decreasing the volume control. Using this special key Windows automatically was showing me the volume control slider centered above the taskbar (see attached screenshot).

Until the Windows patches of March or April 2023 all went fine and the volume control slider was shown correctly after patching and also after the removal of the re-installed components. But since March or April it does not popup anymore after having removed the re-installations (before the removal it still works fine!).

Please, can someone help me figuring out what may be the reason of this?

As the popup still works fine before removing the re-installations but not after for me it looks like NTLite is removing or amending some necessary file or setting, but which one could it be?

I sincerely hope that the enclosed session-xml will be helpful for you experts out there...

1000 thanks in advence for your help!

Regards,
Peter

Thanks, will test this and reply back.
Until then please do a host refresh (in-place update) with an up-to-date ISO of the same Windows and preset to see if that fixes it.

Thank you sooo much for your attention to this.
I'll try to do a host refresh as requested and will inform you soonest about the result.

Hi,

any news?
I just noticed that the old preset is 8 months old, made with similarly old version of the tool.
A lot has changed since then, not sure if it's worth spending time on testing it with the latest version unless it happens again.

Hi Nuhi,

thanks for aksing back.
Just now I completed the host refresh according to your recommendation and following your guide. Unfortunately the volume control slider still is disappearing...
Ok, I'll live with that "feature" until the 23H2-edition will come out. Then I'll do a new installation of this edition after having NTLited it. We'll see if that will work or not.
Regards and thanks again,
Peter

Thanks, in that case it's not the files, host refresh if completed and preset worked before, restores all files.

So it must be the settings + a Windows stuck glitch.
Many Windows users have volume bar issues, these are the steps that usually help, plus add to that changing display scaling to 125% and back to 100%, depending what it is already.

It's called a Flyout, and in the preset there is the option to disable SleepOption, maybe try resetting that to default (or enable).
Shutdown - Sleep option in image (C:\Windows) Settings. I know it's not related, it's a just in case there is a Windows bug idea.

Assuming you're not using 'Explorer Patcher' and similar UI changes, if you do it has its own issues depending on the update.

If nothing works, try this app if compatible.

Let me know if any of those helped.

Hi Nuhi,

thank you sooooo much for your assistance.

Nothing of the above helped me. But:

1. I did not try to create a new NTLite-image with the SleepOption defaulted or enabled:
2. yes, I have the ExplorerPatcher running - sorry for not mentioning that before. But it is running already before removing re-installations and the volume flyout is working then. The flyout is not working after removing the re-installations only...

But don't waste more time on my small problem and let me do a fresh Windows install after the release of 23H2...

Thanks again !!!
