Thoughts and ramblings on users choice of Operating System. Choice being the operative word.

Hey My2GirlsDad, thanks for sticking up for us W7 modders!!
Nuhi thanks for always helping us Win7 guys out.
I expect that there is still a dedicated group of Windows 8.1 users still out there too.

Choice.
Users should be free to use whatever operating system they want based on their hardware and software requirements and not be forced into upgrading for upgradings sake. Upgrading an OS should only occur when technical requirements(hardware and or software) dictate - ie you buy new hardware that wont run w7/8.1/10 etc.

I currently have 1 pc that can run w7 and 8.1, 2 dell laptops that came from the factory with w7 and 8.1 installed and 6 pc's worth of new parts(cpus motherboards and matching ram) that can run w7 and 8.1 but i choose to use windows 10.

Due to various factors i am now no longer able to do what i used to do so i have to take the easy route.
I have a pc so i can GsD(Get Stuff Done), not mess around with the operating system for the sake of messing around with the operating system.

Windows 7 and 8.1 have a lot of updates and compiling a list of updates, what order they should be in and taking any prequisite requirements into account takes time a lot of time and a lot of effort which i cant do anymore, plus i have to factor in driver requirements to get an OS installed(im looking at you windows 7) so i choose to use windows 10, not by choice but by circumstances.

My "old" 8/9th gen hardware officially supports windows 10 with all drivers including igpu drivers availible, i dont have to hunt for and test modded drivers, i dont have to remember to add usb3 and nvme drivers(windows 7), windows 10 installs out the box.

I can install windows 10 out of the box, enable net 3.5 and install 6 updates then sysprep and capture, all in around 1 hour.
1 hour(ish) i got nice shiny captured wim ready to drag into ntlite and any time i saved over windows 7 can now be spent tweaking the damn thing to something that is acceptable, not perfect, no OS ever is perfect but acceptable.

I have seen people spend a lot of time and a lot of effort trying to get windows 7 working on newer hardware with little to sometimes nothing to show for it and i hate seeing anyone wasting time.

I got a ton of w7 and 8.1 stuff aswell as w10 stuff. If i buy new hardware now its gonna be w10/11 only so it makes sense for me to use/support one operating system only and focus my attention onto that only and dump all my w7 and 8.1 stuff.

There are a number of good tweaks projects for windows 10 both here and around the web you can use as they are or cherry pick from from them.

Dont be stubborn or afraid to use newer operating systems, get the turd polish out and get to work.
