Apps Update (MS Store)

:)
Btw to have more info for tomorrow, is the error that the Notepad for example does not open, but it works if same file installed live?

For example Microsoft.WindowsNotepad_11.2204.12.0_neutral___8wekyb3d8bbwe.Msixbundle worked in my tests on 11.22H2.

abbodi86 has explained the reason before. All Appx packages when created, must include an unique license XML even if distributed for free.

That's why offline installers for Dell, HP, Intel or NVIDIA Appx tools always include a bundled license. If you install a newer version, it will require the matching license file for that build. When Windows installs the in-box (included) apps, there are pre-installed licenses already in the image and it can activate those apps offline.

When you download a Store app, it will never provide you an offline license. Your PC has to connect online at least once to activate, afterwards no further network access is required. So it's impossible to run Store apps, whether integated in the image, or sideloaded -- if you're completely offline.

True, now NTLite restores a license for the integrated app replacing existing ones.
Will see to protect it better, and if no license found, prompt to the user - potentially queue install for post-setup.

Thanks.

All seems okay to me, some of the new components cannot uninstall through Ntlite but that maybe why I don't have the latest builds of windows 11.
Thanks, yes, tistou77 must be removing something that breaks this, will see later which component.
Regarding the uninstall, can you give me an exact example?
Which host, and which app on which ISO ver.

I tested just by integrating the LCU and Apps and it works fine
I don't know if it's related, but surely, when the UI Xaml 2.7 version is kept, it works
Removing the components, the problem is present. So a component removes something it shouldn't

Brilliant, will fix that situation if the same runtime is not needed for the same app after install, thanks for the feedback.

It's not a big deal for me but if you really need it just let me know and when I get a chance will post my live build

Did you remove anything relating to Xbox? I found removing anything related to it can cause more problems then its worth. It a weird hard baked into a lot of things app
no, original iso. I just added these apps that are in the screenshot
The xbox app for some reason is being skipped.

Hmm weird, mine still works yet heavily modified.

Check StorSvc under the services tab in Task Manager and make sure it is running.

Close xbox app, restart the service, reopen

sorry, I don't think I mentioned it before, but I'm trying to integrate into an offline image.

yes, but the installed version is outdated. Almost all of these are already installed but outdated.
Are you wanting to be offline because it doesn't take long to update all these apps from the store once windows is installed. There is going to be updates after awhile anyways that will need updates.

There are valid reasons for updating apps on the install image. You may want a preview or older build of an app (Photos, Zune Music), due to changed features. As long as WU's WindowsStore\AutoDownload reg key is disabled, and you NEVER run the Store app -- then you can manage which version is installed.

Updating all the included apps, just because they're old, doesn't make a lot of sense. Outside of major Windows releases, they get updated at random times that don't match any patch schedule. That's why WU checks every day for new app updates.

My goal is just to update the apps that I keep in the image, which are those from the screenshot above.

I don't open the store much after installation and I also use the reg key to disable the automatic update of the store.

In addition, there are some of these apps that do not open if they are not updated first, for example the clock app, voice recorder, xbox.
Xbox game bar is also the very old layout version and some apps are from a 2018 version from what I saw in the file name, why the hell MS didn't install a newer version I don't know haha

Anyway, it makes more sense to me to leave the apps a little more updated if possible.

From what I've tested, it's not working just with the xbox app, which is being skipped.
