Downsides of removing Windows Update pre-install?

Yep. I think I have a good amount of information to work with. Thanks to everyone! Really like this community here of making WIndows more bearable.
 
Windows Update needs for installation of UWP Apps in MS Store, installation of language and keyboard and etc.. So be wise what you removed

WU will update existing apps, but Store can install new apps by itself. It's true WU is required for installing Optional Features, and Language Pack add-on's.

I mean without windows update functions enabled you can’t install apps in store but correct me if i’m wrong

wrong, there are ways without windows update being enabled. you can install them, but you can't update them

My windows update is removed and I can still install my store apps and updates. I just use Ntlite to install Windows updates if needed
 
Windows Servicing Stack is what allows Windows to install, update and repair itself by using the component store (WinSxS). When you install an update (MSU, CAB), the Servicing Stack through DISM does all the work. UWP apps (MSIX, Appx) are also deployed using the stack.

Windows Update is a higher level service sitting on top of the Servicing Stack. Store can browse, download and install apps separately from WU.

For convenience, WU will update installed Store apps for you instead of having you enter the Store to update them. This feature can be disabled by registry if you don't want app versions to be replaced (keep older builds).
 
Or by postpone Windows updates like 5 weeks (for control).
A tip here is is to update MS Store apps at the same time even they can be updated if postponed WU.
