That was easier than expected and not that many updates either. WU satisfied apart from malicious removal whatsit. Just got to strip out the cab files, rename them to build date-kbnumber and generate an update cmd file, test then sit back with a smug smile on me face :D
Blimey nuhi, you have added a ton of tweaks, great stuff :)

Good to hear :)

Watch out for latest updates they started (intentionally) bug out wallpapers and today I'm hearing reports 7 just suddenly no longer wants to shut down properly. They are intentionally trying to break 7 now.

I wouldn't be surprised some patches also contain timebombs that will eventually go off after some time or date and further break stuff.

If you set a wallypaper to stretch(or summat like that), i got the cu that fixes that. I can always go back to build 23710, ive said all along ms could timebomb 7 given their history of sneakiness. For the time being and a bit beyond i got options at least.

Windows 8.1 will exit extended support on January 20, 2023.
Tick tock tick tock. 8.1 isnt used by many but if you do useit i would suggest building an image now and another every january because if ms do mess with it you will have stable images to fall back on. 8.1 runs well on intel 8/9th gen B360 chipset, you dont always have to have the latest build, people just doit for security fixes but ms do slip bogeys in under the guise of "security". This 880K/A88X internet pc runs 8.1 smooth as silk and i havnt had a problem with it yet.

I have got the latest wsusscn.cab(i always date the filename) to use with WUMT scanning in offline mode, i can use ntlite and whdownloader to grab as many updates as i can and put them into storage so i can always go back in time to X date and fully satisfy windows update on that date.
I like options.

Yea got a decently prepped W8 iso ready here, i do use it on some VM's due to low memory blueprint and ability to disable dwm without drawbacks (app need lowest possible frame delivery latency).

Its not perfected but these headless clients don't really need that.

Even on older ones It just stalls the video driver and freezes games :C

i'll keep it enabled on 7 as i like aero, basic sucks monkey balls. Not a biggy as 7 is low on resources anyway so i can afford a luxury here and there.
I'll do an updated 8.1 build when im finished.

Found a way to disable fvevol and rdyboost without windows boot hanging :P

Maybe I can disable even more crap now.

Yea every lil bit helps. I see new HAX! I'll have to make a new build tonight to see if it doesnt screw up install.

MT_ you said you had issues with w7 on an nvme driver, explain please, what make of drive?

Both AHCI (Sata) and NVMe based, different chipsets.

Never dug deep enough and it only happened sporadically with certain disk workloads (or a combination of)

Symptoms were seconds if total OS freezes (incl. mouse pointer)

Seems W10 has better handling in regards to system stalls in general.

Why u askin?

Nice! I have a small form factor PC with Biostar mini itx board as well. Not bad ;-)

Ive got a gigabyte matx board(see edit below), not many biostar boards here and not at my usual suppliers, if the limitations are just the chipset then the tool should work on any brand b365 board. 8.1 should install, it did on B360.

MT_ H310M S2V 2.0 is sort of mini itx(officially its matx) and £53, cheaper than true mini itx. They are good little boards for the money and will make a great cheap test system, slap a pentium gold(£55) or i3, 4gb(£20)/8gb ram(£38) and away you go :)
