Trying to create a small version of Windows LTSB for my gaming PC

I want privacy stuff to come first, and I am having some problems;

1. Size of C:\\ Drive ends up at 20 GB after installation, which is basically the same as what my full x64 Windows 10 Home used after a clean install. Even if I have removed a lot of components.

2. I broke Internet Explorer (didn't remove the component) somehow that would cause my KeePass plugin I use (KeeAnywhere) which lets you sync your database to Dropbox, but to login to Dropbox it used Internet Explorer and I would get certification error all over Internet Explorer, didn't matter what site I visited and I have no idea what component or setting it was that butchered it. (changed a lot, so if anyone can help me figure out what might have caused this, would be great)

If anyone can point me to a good guide for setting up a minimal Windows 10 x64 LTSB for regular everyday use I'd really appreciate it.

I've sat up all night trying to figure this thing out, and I'm nowhere closer to a solution, so I'm going to post this and go to bed now at 7:30 and hope I can wake up to a knight in shining armor who knows what this problem is caused by.

AFAIK, once they've both gone through NTLite the only difference between LTSB and Pro/Ent. is that LTSB doesn't get feature updates. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong)

That's good in some cases, but usually bad for a gaming PC (the latest Radeon drivers, for example, don't work on LTSB).

Why are you using LTSB?

Also you should attach the settings XML file you used so we can see what you changed. Right now all I know is you "changed a lot" :)

Now this works, but of course with a fix comes a new problem :) Now my problem is with the fact that the program "estimates?" Final Install Size to be around 5GB, but in reality the final install size (C: Drive) ends up at 20 GB. And I've checked and double checked there is no ISO in the file system, so I don't know how that could happen from a LTSB with component removed (Clangers W10 Presents with a few tweaks of removed/non removed things) when my clean install W10 Home without any component edits isn't even that large.

Someone at mdl has reported latest drivers for raven ridge 2200g install fine on ltsb 2016(1607 - 14393).

LTSB doesnt get feature upgrades, just yer usual round of ballsed up updates 3 times a month that will brick ya pc.

LIINdd, 20gb aint right, users report my presets are within the quoted FIS(final install size) if they run them without modding and my own tests are very close to the FIS ntlite quotes on the apply page.

My presets will include
remove .net setup cache,
remove cache and temp files.
You must select clean update backup.

What you may have missed is the quoted FIS's are with pagefile, hibernation and sleep disabled. System restore will be removed as part of the preset. These are your space hogs.

Is it possible that me modifying (remove more stuff) would cause it to take more space, because I've only removed more stuff on your presets. I'm going to try this one more time, if it ends up the same I'm just going to cry and admit defeat and move on :)

To me defeat is something you find on the end of delegs. What are you, man or wous?

Dont rush it and look at each stage carefully, there is something very simple amiss.

I've been going at it for 2 days straight and I'm still nowhere close to the finish line.

You are removing more stuff therefore the final product will be smaller installed. Check there is not a windows.old folder on the c: drive or whatever letter the os gets installed on.

2 days? It took me 2 years to get w7 bareboned to 1.16gb installed, using later ntlite buil;ds with more removals as they became availible.

I'm impatient :) I also wanna beat my friends Windows 10 size, so I'm kinda pressed on getting this done as soon as I possibly can, just to get below his 8.5GB he is so proud of :) I just don't seem to be in luck :)

Waddidoo, run ccleaner? I can get 5gb FIS on ltsb in my sleep. I go carefull on public presets so you will get 4gb or less with carefull tweaking and make him look like a pussy.

I think i had about 5.6 on 1703 with touch and on-screen keyboard kept without issues (dependencies and stuff needed by third party programs).

Is recommended to add date and number to each preset created until ou get issues to get step (preset) back.

On or around 20GB is what many users get with these operating systems. Pagefile and Hibernation are about 8GB combined on my system. The Software Distribution(updates folder) is a space hog if it isnt cleaned out.

once w7 is updated with 3125574(which is kinda like a service pack) the install size is about 7.2gb. you dont have to use 3125574 if you dont want to.
be warned, its a barebone preset and not for everyone, you will have problems with it. it was built for my needs only, i just shared it.
