Why do people recommend that I extract my ISO before editing it in NTLite?

I haven't seen it mentioned here in the NTLite forums, but I've seen a few people outside of here recommend that you do that.
Why is that? I don't see it offering any benefit or improvements..

Old versions of NTLite required that extra step before editing any ISO, but that's no longer necessary. But it's still recommended if you're customizing parts of the ISO (not the install image) with Unattended or Post-Setup items. The extracted folder makes it easier to search and debug those files because they live on the ISO.

NTLite now extracts it automatically in the "Image edits", you can easily explore those folders for any manual steps.
