Discussion: NVIDIA Display Driver (nvlddmkm.sys) DPC Latency

older cards are still on v474.11 and are being ignored by the look of it.
Do you have issues with dpc latency on Windows 10 as well? Although nvidia supports Windows 7 we know that the focus in development is always on the latest OS. GT 710 is from 2016 when Windows 10 was already released. Try with Windows 10 22H2 or LTSC 2021 fully updated.

the gt710 is out and binned and i aint got the werewithal to try ltsc 21 :/, aint got nothing done today as it is.

users of the following are gonna be FoL. 20quid and im well sorted, think i give a damn about nvidia anymore,,,
they let this dpc crap go on for years, they knew but couldnt or did nothing.

NVIDIA TITAN Series:
NVIDIA TITAN Xp, NVIDIA TITAN X (Pascal), GeForce GTX TITAN X, GeForce GTX TITAN, GeForce GTX TITAN Black, GeForce GTX TITAN Z

GeForce 10 Series:
GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, GeForce GTX 1080, GeForce GTX 1070 Ti, GeForce GTX 1070, GeForce GTX 1060, GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, GeForce GTX 1050, GeForce GT 1030, GeForce GT 1010

GeForce 900 Series:
GeForce GTX 980 Ti, GeForce GTX 980, GeForce GTX 970, GeForce GTX 960, GeForce GTX 950

GeForce 700 Series:
GeForce GTX 780 Ti, GeForce GTX 780, GeForce GTX 770, GeForce GTX 760, GeForce GTX 760 Ti (OEM), GeForce GTX 750 Ti, GeForce GTX 750, GeForce GTX 745, GeForce GT 740, GeForce GT 730, GeForce GT 720, GeForce GT 710

im trying to ditch 7 and go down to 1 os only. ive got os iso's and updates from rsole till breakfast time.

Which it probably wasnt. Nothing showing for GT710 on W7 W8.1 W10 and W11.

I was initially disappointed due to the wording of these new patch notes because what Nvidia did here, was allegedly fixed a 3000 series (Ampere) bug, then literally renamed our open issue as shown below and marked it as solved.

Old: Increase in DPC latency observed in Latencymon [3952556]
New: Increase in DPC latency observed in Latencymon for Ampere-based GPUs [3952556]

This could be interpreted as Nvidia sweeping the global DPC issue under the rug and pretending they fixed it by changing it into something else, or Nvidia assumed we were all using Ampere cards. I'm reserving judgement for now because Microsoft may be the real culprit, as I mentioned (link) in another thread regarding recent updates.

It could be that Windows is the root cause and the upcoming preview will fix the overall DPC issues, and then Nvidia addressed their side of things (specific architectures misbehaving). We can't know for sure until Microsoft's update becomes official and have time to mature, so that we can see if it requires follow-up fixes or if the bulk of the issue belonged to Nvidia all along.

Yeah I never hold my breath with this stuff.

Nvidia Software QA Manager Says Long-Awaited DPC Latency Fix Is Ready
According to Mr. Guzman, Nvidia has now reached a stage where it has fixed its driver DPC latency issues. Of course, the proof of the pudding is in the eating, and we shall see shortly when the fixed driver(s) arrive. As the Nvidia software QA spokesperson says, please "stay tuned."

GPU Monitoring Apps and Updating Nvidia Drivers

From Guzman's Twitter thread, where the DPC latency news emanated, there comes a solid recommendation to exit all your GPU monitoring apps before updating Nvidia drivers. The crux of this potential issue is that if you forget or neglect to follow this advice, "the GPU monitor utility may inadvertently set a lower power target resulting in lower performance."

Nvidia Gamers Using Windows 11

Mr. Guzman also recommends that Windows 11 users with Nvidia GPUs update to the latest version. Apparently, Microsoft's latest update addresses Timeout Detection and Recovery (TDR) errors which could otherwise interrupt gaming sessions.

July 2023 KB5028185 (22621.1992)
This update addresses an issue that might affect your computer when you are playing a game. Timeout Detection and Recovery (TDR) errors might occur.
