I love when the answer to a question is basically "I don't have this problem because I don't use this function of windows"!
*** Warning, a bit of a Rant ***
It basically validate my 'less is more' theory of OS quality: If they (and that includes linuxes!) made a barebones OS, and instead of a bajillion apps they've bothered to include the 2 dozen runtimes you still have to download and install every format, with the apps and optional features being OPTIONAL (its in the name, how did you miss that!?), not only they'd piss a lot less people but they'd also be able to y'know, charge for those optional features, like they do for office. Imagine a "Pro Upgrade Pack" with features like Azure services and the like instead of it being a windows version? Also, Driverpacks for devices older than... say, 10 years? (Seriously, why do we have tape loader drivers in a 2021 OS?)
My other pet peeve, as stated, its requiring internet for everything (and Linuxes kind of piss me off for that reason). I DON'T WANT TO BE ALWAYS CONNECTED TO A CLOUD!! CLOUDS ARE HUMID, COLD, AND THEY MAKE ME SNEEZE!! (Listen to me, I live atop a mountain and there's clouds galore here), but anyways, on OSs, sure, optional updates, to improve your security and quality of life are great! but you should be able to restart your PC from zero and reinstall all your applications without having to connect to any network for 'security reasons'.
Seriously, its hilarious that the most internet independent OS in 2021 is Android, who was born for devices which are by nature always connected. You can flash the OS, install app packages and configure anything not related to cellphone networks (for obvious reasons) without connecting to the cloud, and only when everything is tight and secure connect and use the device.
