GamerOS Windows 10 & 11 DIY Preset

they are using this windows 10 preset on windows 11 and then asking for aid when it errors out, I cant help them

all i can do is say your issue is somewhere within these components

<c>audit 'Windows Audit'</c>
<c>autopilot</c>
<c>autoplay</c>
<c>capabilityaccess 'Capability Access'</c>
<c>dbgeng 'Windows Symbolic Debugger Engine'</c>
<c>deliveryoptimization 'Delivery Optimization'</c>
<c>deviceexperience 'Device Experience'</c>
<c>driver_vhdmp.inf</c>
<c>driver_virtdisk.inf</c>
<c>ipt 'Identity Protection Technology (Intel IPT)'</c>
<c>kl-00001409 'NZ Aotearoa'</c>
<c>kmsbroker 'KMS Connection Broker'</c>
<c>memorydiagnostic 'Memory Diagnostic'</c>
<c>Microsoft.Windows.CloudExperienceHost 'Out-of-box Experience (OOBE)'</c>
<c>Microsoft.Windows.Search 'Search App'</c>
<c>onesyncsvc 'Sync Host'</c>
<c>opclib 'OLE for Process Control (OPC) library'</c>
<c>pcshell 'Taskbar popups (PC Shell 'Tray Flyouts')'</c>
<c>reliabilityanalysis 'Reliability Analysis Services'</c>
<c>rmsvc 'Radio Management and Airplane Mode Service'</c>
<c>shellhwdetection 'Shell Hardware Detection'</c>
<c>uac 'User Account Control (UAC)'</c>
<c>vhd 'Virtual Hard Disk (VHD) support'</c>

this is a wealth of info I will certainly be checking this out, is there a difference between githubmemory and the github page?

and testing what they remove from windows 11 i get no search function (which is a killer if they have to manually search for everything) taskbar flyouts (no network symbol) and taskhost error popup on boot, i can fix the search functions and taskbar but alas i have no idea what taskschedule error could be from

p.s after some testing these items being removed have no negative effects on windows 11 and other functions remain intact

<c>audit 'Windows Audit'</c>
<c>deliveryoptimization 'Delivery Optimization'</c>
<c>deviceexperience 'Device Experience'</c>
<c>driver_vhdmp.inf</c>
<c>driver_virtdisk.inf</c>
<c>ipt 'Identity Protection Technology (Intel IPT)'</c>
<c>kl-00001409 'NZ Aotearoa'</c>
<c>kmsbroker 'KMS Connection Broker'</c>
<c>onesyncsvc 'Sync Host'</c>
<c>reliabilityanalysis 'Reliability Analysis Services'</c>
<c>vhd 'Virtual Hard Disk (VHD) support'</c>
<c>autopilot</c>
<c>autoplay</c>
<c>dbgeng 'Windows Symbolic Debugger Engine'</c>
<c>memorydiagnostic 'Memory Diagnostic'</c>
<c>Microsoft.Windows.CloudExperienceHost 'Out-of-box Experience (OOBE)'</c>
<c>opclib 'OLE for Process Control (OPC) library'</c>

do not remove

<c>capabilityaccess 'Capability Access'</c>
<c>Microsoft.Windows.Search 'Search App'</c>
<c>pcshell 'Taskbar popups (PC Shell 'Tray Flyouts')'</c>
<c>rmsvc 'Radio Management and Airplane Mode Service'</c>
<c>shellhwdetection 'Shell Hardware Detection'</c>
<c>uac 'User Account Control (UAC)'</c>

everything else in your preset it seems ive already removed from this windows 11 build and can be of no further aid

Good catch, Google listed the githubmemory page top of my search. github should be the active project.

Every preset, including this one, should have OOBE compatibility and Host Machine enabled.
That will solve majority of problems people have.
Also read any warnings on the Apply page, before applying.

For any found, unexpected issues, open new topics as I don't re-read known ones, especially the ones not targeted to the tool per say.
This topic is a user's preset.

Tommy_L33T, I strongly suggest to change in your preset:
<Feature enabled="no">OOBE</Feature>
to
<Feature enabled="yes">OOBE</Feature>
and if the image is being made for the host running NTLite, then also change:
<Machine enabled="no">HostMachine</Machine>
to
<Machine enabled="yes">HostMachine</Machine>
Same applies for VMWare or VirtualBox listed there.

Thanks nuhi, we were discussing other buddies issues with windows 11 got alittle side tracked

New presets posted for both windows versions now listed on the front page, happy gaming everyone, many thanks go out to the ones who gave aid and taught me a few things that really helped get this put together so I dont have to waste as much time experimenting with this and that when creating a preset file

2 comments/questions, if I may:
OOBE compatibility not enabled in step2, which component do you like to remove that is locked by that compatibility?
Why splitting preset in 4 pieces, when it can all be processed as one?
Since you add comments, you can instruct users to cut off certain parts if they want.

I presume you would like a Load Preset per Page option?

i find if i do it all at once i dont wind up with the same size of wim file the wim file is smaller when I do it step by step (will check to see if Im remembering correctly), no options have been checked in step 2 I didnt really know if they would interfere with removing any of the feature components and step two was only removing the feature components so they would disappear form the list, i figured leaving them unchecked wouldnt be an issue

OK, I would just have OOBE enabled in any released preset, if users pick up from it as a basis.

Let me know if you see any significant size differences depending if done in segments, I would test and fix that, should be no difference.\

Btw LCU component before could not be removed before updated as CU creates it, so maybe that was it, since then that was solved with a placeholder even if not existing.

Thanks.

ok will fix that, and I will test if Im remembering correctly, what i remember is if you disable the 19 features it reduces iso size, then if you do it all as one when you look at the features being disabled its less then19 and the wim file winds up being slightly larger then disabling all the features as the first step

Let me know what you find, maybe it was solved in the meantime.
It's of course possible to automate any needed sequencing internally, no need to spread it across presets.
Just need to know what I'm looking for.

\Microsoft\Windows\SoftwareProtectionPlatform\SvcRestartTask
\Microsoft\Windows\SoftwareProtectionPlatform\SvcRestartTaskLogon
\Microsoft\Windows\SoftwareProtectionPlatform\SvcRestartTaskNetwork

SPP is the Windows and Office licensing check which runs daily or after logon. The overhead is minimal, if you don't run it then Windows thinks you're pirating and drops into "reduced functionality" mode. When people suggest you turn off SPP because it's consuming CPU, they've probably broken something else and making SPP cranky.

partly why i dont turn off task scheduler and because stuff you add might add a task too.
best to keep it on and disable the grot. i can get windows to flatline pretty quick at logon and it stays there.

you get a bloody watermark, your desktop wallpaper goes bye bye n you get a black screen. prolly get the not activated wotsit at logon.

Question: Did anyone tried Windows Server as a base media? (I mean, its close to windows 10 LTSC, but its meant to have less base weight on the system and more resources left to run the server itself.)

LTSC 1809 is much lighter on resources once ive played with it, around 12000 handles. how ltsc 1809 compares to the server 1809 i dont know. i have heard that defender on server can be completely removed. all heresay because i dont have access to server 1809.
