Microsoft recently started automatically installing this update during the OOBE process of installation:

The compatibility options currently available to us are often insufficient.
I know we can protect files. *Please* let us protect specific components, too.
You could do that with an XML file if needed. Just let us add components to a custom XML file, and then "use" it to block those components...
Perhaps it is related to yesterdays out-of-band update, but WMP 32-bit is not being removed, at least according to the component options available to me. I already ran my xml on this iso and it still shows up. (Notice the 32-bit codec is gone, but not the player.)
I use RunOnceEx. How do I take advantage of the new feature listed in today's patch notes?
Post-Setup-User: Automatic pure runonce switch for images without Internet Explorer (no runonceex, e.g. Server Core)
I could be wrong but I believe all of the above are set by NTLite (they are not on stock iso and I didn't knowingly set them). Since they result in an error, they never execute, and thus never disappear from Autoruns.
I'm not sure if this changed with recent versions of Windows, but I think...
Any ideas on why the Optional Windows Features control panel shown below would show error 0x80073701 both when adding or removing a feature, yet I can use NTLite to toggle them on the same Live Install without any problems?
I've just discovered that dozens and dozens of folders --- hundreds of megabytes -- of components that I've removed with NTLite are still found in the WinSxS folder. Those should be removed as well, shouldn't they? I've tried it several times. Is this a bug? Or am I doing something wrong?
While exploring the mount directory I manually removed about 800Mb from the WinSxS folder. After unloading the directory and saving changes, the Wim size *grew* by about 60 MB, even though the install sizes decreased as expected. I presume this is because of compression techniques.
Are there...
I made an iso for our home computers. I included the latest Realtek network adapters to the iso. When I installed it on my son's computer, this shows up on Autoruns:
The thing is, he doesn't have a Realtek network adapter (he has Intel), and he doesn't even have WiFi.
So my question is, why...
This is a bit complicated to explain but I'll do my best.
I have standard Realtek network adapters on my computer. They are automatically detected during a stock Win 20H2 installation. After adding updated versions of their drivers to my iso though, they now show the following errors after...
After a great deal of investigation, I've discovered that Azure Active Directory and it's supporting components (along with the AAD.BrokerPlugin) are required for logging in to the Windows Store in 20H2 (not sure about other editions). Please consider adding them to the list of components...
I've seen this a few times now so I thought I'd report it. Certain settings are not being applied properly.
I applied a bunch of settings to my 20H2 iso. When I reload the iso and apply the exact *same* XML file, it should, in theory, not need to make any changes because the changes were...
I dual boot and I'm working on a 20H2 iso.
When I use NTLite in Windows 7, I am able to mount the install.wim without any problems.
When I use NTLite in 20H2, the exact same install.wim throws the following error:
I have gone back and forth several times. It works on Windows 7 and does not...
Please provide an option to add SkipRearm to autounattend.xml when using Audit mode:
<settings pass="generalize">
<component name="Microsoft-Windows-Security-SPP" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS"...
I want to use the built-in administrator account to login, but when I import HKCU registry files (current user), NTLite only applies them to User - Default and User - System. Can we import them to User - Administrator as well?
If not, could you add that as an option?
Just downloaded the 2.1.0.7705 beta build.
The Recommended option is no longer shown on the compatibility tab. It seems like it is pre-selected and unable to be turned off.
The "Recommended" option now shown under Windows Update does not work the same way.
I want an automated setup process to use the built-in Administrator for a local account, but I want the user to be required to set a password. (I don't want to set a password in the xml file either.) How can I do this?
One source of frustration for me is that the "Existing Driver" message halts the processing of an image. When making a lot of changes and updates to an image, it can sometimes take a very long time to process, so I'd like be able to start the process and walk away from my computer. Right now, I...
